Breastfeeding Support
Voluntary via Milk Mentors
Milk Mentors is a community project that was set up with two aspects:
to provide peer supporter training to parents passionate about helping others to breastfeed so that they might be able to work in their local community to provide breastfeeding support
to provide breastfeeding peer support services to parents in the local communities, including both one to one and group support
J'Nel Metherell, a local International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), to build a network of peer supporters to help parents in our local area who wish to breastfeed. The group is maintained collaboratively by our peer supporters and is run and directed by those within the group who have the ideas and passion to make Milk Mentors what it is, while continuing to uphold the mission and ethos of this amazing community project.
We host Preparing to Breastfeed workshops at several points throughout the year too, for mothers and families looking to learn a bit more about what to expect, ahead of their baby’s birth.
